Inspired by the ambition of modern prog, OVUS have mixed the rhythmic and lyrical guitar work of Animals As Leaders, Polyphia & Intervals, with the frantic energy of Protest The Hero, and the atmospheric weight of Opeth. Their unique blend of infectious grooves and unforgettable hooks aren’t just for progressive metal fans, but anybody looking to immerse themselves in music.

Following the release of 2022’s Lucid, OVUS have expand their sound with rich new textures of synths & samples in 2025’s Cascade. This 5 track EP hits hard with brooding synth builds, tight polymetric grooves and huge crescendos.

Tracks such as Cascade explore an upbeat CHON inspired energy, folding into massive ethereal choruses with clouds of guitar melody cushioned in an ocean of soundscapes. Bookended by the furious Vulgaris, the EP grounds itself with brutal riffs, staggering time signature changes and blazing fast lead guitar.

Having built a reputation as one of New Zealand’s most exciting instrumental acts, OVUS will return to the stage in 2026 with a brand new live show and sights set on touring Aotearoa and beyond.
